Stacey Goodman
Artist Statement
Oscillating between the purely abstract and the figurative, my work seeks to unsettle and quietly disrupt, allowing me to get lost in subjects that fascinate me—from astrological imagery to Depression Era photography. Video projection, drawing, sculpture, and performance come into play, and at times there is a conversation between the works, at other times each piece speaks for only itself. I see myself somewhere between shaman and perennial apprentice in my need to both evoke mystery and insight, as well nurture the desire for discovery, renewal, and beginning again.
While at Headlands
While at Headlands I will continue developing specific work through performance, sculpture, and video projection. I will also be digging holes, getting lost, and taking in the ocean air.
