Jeremy Novak Live
Through a process of intensively edited found-sound audio assemblage, Jeremy Novak (AIR ’12) has a distinctive, multi-pronged approach to making music. Instigator of the cult musical project Dymaxion, Novak’s live performances are characterized by evocative and propulsive stylings. Within the atmospheric setting of Headlands’ Building 961, a former military warehouse, Novak will perform new and recent work, including experiments in sound devised during his residency at Headlands. He will be joined by Dymaxion drummer Jim Abramson, James Fei, and Jared Blum of Gigante Sound as well as other exceptional musical guests.
Join us before the show for a Mess Hall dinner inspired by the sampling technique that is a fundamental part of Novak’s approach to generating music. The menu encourages diners to “mix and match” from a sampler of ingredients to make a do-it-yourself Asian meal.
The performance at Headlands marks a return of sorts for New York resident Novak, who after a five year hiatus is re-embracing his musical legacy and career with two upcoming two-years-in-the-making collaborations with Tim Gane of Stereolab in his Berlin-based studio, as well as a separate project with Deerhoof guitarist John Deiterich.
