Artist Statement
I am a playwright, using comedy and absurdity to explore the things we don’t want to talk about, from the climate, to collective living, to masculinity: all the chill stuff. I am immensely grateful to have come from being self-taught to being one of the most produced trans playwrights in Canada. Before I was able to access institutional support, I put on my plays for hungry audiences in esteemed locations like living rooms, backyards and warehouses. My plays have now been presented in over 60 cities, translated into 6 languages. I currently live between Los Angeles and Toronto
While at Headlands
I will work on a new theatre play, “Apocalypse: a Love Story”. The play follows a family absurdly navigating their life milestones in a civilization undergoing total collapse. It is a commission with the Lucille Lortel Theatre (New York).
