Artist Statement

Though my artistic practice includes sculpture, animation, drawing, and installation, comics guide and ground my work. My stories use image and language to compliment and complicate communication in order to capture subtle emotional and psychological experiences. Since moving to the Mojave Desert in 2018, I have explicitly focused on ecological and non-human animal relationships. 

While at Headlands

I will be using the dedicated studio time to research, develop, and begin drawing a new graphic novel. Having been five years since I started a long-form narrative project, these months will be pivotal in setting up the foundation for a new story. Ant venom, wildfires, and urban coyotes will play leading roles, with overarching themes of climate change and obsession.
