Project Space Exhibitions Opening
Building 944, Project Space West: Sarah Rara’s (AIR ’16) ongoing project, Broken Solar, is a meditation on natural resources, human-built environments, and the aesthetics of renewable energy.
Building 944, Project Space East: Cybele Lyle’s (AIR ’16, AFF ’11–’12) exhibition, Adventures in Solitude, works from a queer perspective to explore the unknown by building multiple architectures and rooms within rooms.

Performance, Building 944, Project Space West
To coincide with Sarah Rara’s exhibition opening, there will be a musical performance by Gautam Tejas Ganeshan, entitled Carnatic at the Headlands. Original songs and improvisations alongside traditional lines, joined by tambura drone lute, mridangam barrel drum, and more. Based in love and understanding of Carnetic music, Gautam Tejas Ganeshan’s performances breathe new life into an old tradition.

Performance, The Gym
Guy Klucevsek (AIR ’16) is a composer/accordionist whose music reverberates with sounds of the ballroom, the beer garden, and the concert hall, fusing elements of regional accordion styles with jazz and avant-garde music.*Space is limited. Doors open 15 minutes before performance begins.

Marco Lean (AFF ’15–’16), Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan (AIR ’16), and Lyzette Wanzer (AFF ’15–’16) will each read 10-minute selections from recent work.

Brian Mumford (AIR ’16) is a sound and music artist who uses songs, textures, performance, repetition, and technological interruption to explore possibilities in collective intensities.

Hands-On Activity, Building 944, Officer’s Club
Park Partner NatureBridge and their Coastal Camp team will lead an all ages activity inspired by the season. Put your imagination to work as you take items that are normally destined for the recycling bin and transform them into colorful spring flowers.

Installation, Building 944, Rodeo Room
May Wilson (AFF ’14–’16; GF ’13–’14) will show two new sculptures, Straw and Welter, facing off. The new sculptures involve us in a material experience with our surroundings, complicit in the confrontation.

Visioning is a collaborative project between Oakland-based artists Sholeh Asgary and Tressa Pack (AFF ’15–’16).
