Learn how to use a small frame loom to make place-specific, natural fiber weavings with interdisciplinary textile artist Tali Weinberg. Using data from local weather patterns, Weinberg instructs on technical skills, and shares her approach to weaving as an ideal method for tactically expressing the environmental and human impact of climate change. The hand-wrought quality of this medium also conveys our agency, both in the current scenario and in changing it for the future.

About Tali Weinberg
Tali Weinberg fuses the language of text and textiles to address gender violence, the housing crisis, climate change, labor exploitation, and other traumas and insecurities that are experienced at once as social and personal. Situated within global practices of women creatively reusing materials to produce objects of care and connection, her process is one of producing, deconstructing, and restructuring. Weinberg holds an MA from New York University and an MFA from California College of the Arts, and has exhibited work nationally and internationally, to include exhibitions at the Berkeley Museum of Art, San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, the Textile Arts Center, Gallatin Gallery, and Zhejiang Art Museum. Weinberg has instructed a variety of textile, weaving, and dyeing courses at California College of the Arts, Penland School of Crafts, and the Textile Arts Center, and has lectured extensively throughout the country.
