Desire Trails
Desire paths are well-trodden trails created by foot traffic, where the ground becomes imprinted evidence of a place that wants to be discovered, and the people who seek it out. Grab your walking stick for Desire Trails, a once-a-year event where artists activate the Headlands landscape. In this edition, sound artists including Guillermo Galindo, Molly Joyce (AIR), Andy Puls, Voicehandler (AIR), and others tune our ears to a whole new experience of the landscape.
Hikers will meet in our Main Building 944 to briefly study-up on the science of sound before heading outside to find, observe, and participate in a variety of experiences orchestrated by artists, authors, and scientists. You’ll encounter analog and electronic sound-generating instruments powered by weather, solar energy, and even our own bodies, voices, and thoughts. (R)amblers can enjoy a meal in the Mess Hall between 12:30 and 3PM. This event is family friendly.
