Headlands Center for the Arts is engaged in the ongoing renovation and transformation of our historic structures. A major strategy has been through granting commissions to artists. Major American artists including Ann Hamilton, David Ireland, Bruce Tomb and John Randolph have designed and supervised the renovation of the public rooms in our main building, 944 Fort Barry. A more recent project would be the 1999 renovation of building 960, led by Leonard Hunter and Mark Cavagnero.
